How did you first get involved in paranormal research?
When I got out of the Air Force in 1976 I started going at investigating the paranormal full steam. I had a Teak A4010S reel to reel, a Sony mixer, and some Shure Microphones. In addition I had an old Army surplus mine detector that I rewired to be a passive receiver, and fed the coil output to an old Tektronix 545B oscilloscope. To say the equipment was NOT portable was an understatement. The recorder weighed about 70 pounds and the Oscope was just as heavy. But to back up a bit, I had been reading everything I could get my hands on about the paranormal since 1964, when I was a kid, and had some personal experiences as a child. I visited my first Haunted House on the night of my graduation from High School. I got a degree in Electronic Engineering in the Service, and had enough gumption and knowledge to start looking at the phenomena seriously, hence the 1976 beginning. In those days though, you couldn't tell folks what you were really up to. I was "studying infrasonic structural vibrations" or equally ridiculous excuses but you couldn't tell people you were doing paranormal research. At least not in Gainesville, Florida at the time.
